First surgical procedure

Eyla had tubes put in her ears this morning, which will hopefully take care of the numerous ear infections she has had in the last 4-5 months. She did great - didn't even cry when the nurse took her back in the surgery area, away from us. She was under anesthesia for about 4 minutes, completely done with the process from check-in to check-out in less than 2 hours. She was sad when I went back to her in the recovery area, mostly because they had a monitor connected to her toe, and it was bugging her! Once they took it off, and she could go find her Daddy, she was back to her happy, perky self!

Flat Top Grill, Cold Stone w/ special people

Took a trip up to Ft. Wayne after church on Sunday to have lunch with Devon & Kristen. We enjoyed a great meal at Flat Top, books/trains/Starbucks at Barnes & Noble and topped it all off with ice cream at Cold Stone. So good to see and spend time with Dev & Kristen, and hear where life will be taking them in the coming months (marriage, PA, etc.)

Growing...

This picture is mostly to show you my new hair cut, since it is really only a good picture of Eyla's nostrils!

It feels like Eyla is getting into that stage when we need to have an eye on her wherever she is...silence = trouble! As an example, I was sitting on the couch, which is basically right beside our love seat. Before I even noticed, she had managed to climb over the back, using my bench/bookshelf to aid her! She did it so quickly the first time that I let her do it a second time so I would know how she did it...and could take a couple pictures! The (blurry) grin was her after she had completed the feat a second time; blurry because she was trying to run around me to do it again! She can climb onto most of our furniture now (chairs, rocking chair, trunk that serves as a side table). She even got one leg high enough the other night that she could have gotten into (fallen!) the bathtub. Yeah, she needs to be watched!!




Instead of Saturday morning cartoons, we do Saturday morning books...well, at least we did this once!

She got ahold of a string of Christmas lights that we had left out. She was having a good time, and it made for some cute pictures...until she decided to see what would happen if she bit one. Didn't break it, but I didn't want to give her the chance to try again. The bottom picture was the last one before I took the lights away - she looks like she is trying to eat a lightning bug!!!!!



Our daughter, the puppy...looks like a dog with a frisbee. Simon, want to play fetch!?!

Lazy Saturday afternoon

Reading on the bed while Jas and I put our clean clothes away...she cracks us up when she does stuff like this!

The biggest dessert plate I've ever seen

We went out to dinner with the McDonough's and Conner's last night, to celebrate Jonah's birthday. Since it was a special occasion, we couldn't help getting a dessert...and what a dessert it was! Tiramisu, cheesecake with raspberry sauce, chocolate cake and apple pie - delicious! We joked that the plate was so big, Eyla would have fit on it when she was born.

There is a reason that Eyla is outside (in February) with no shoes on...there was beautiful sunlight shining through our windows one early evening last week. Naturally, I grabbed the camera and took her outside, hoping to get some good pictures. Alas, the sun was mostly too high to take advantage of, except for the one stream that peaked through, enough to get a picture or two with it on her face. She took advantage of being outside to taste the snow, too!








Watching Vancouver Olympics 2010. She ignores most of it, but ice skating seems to catch her eye.

Helping with the dishes...her high chair doesn't get her close enough to help, so we came up with this much-funner option! Of course, it required a change of clothes afterwards.


Small spaces...she finds them everywhere. This is a corner in the kitchen that we eventually cleaned out for her, because she kept going back there and getting into everything.
