Saturday morning...

Started the day with a mint kiddos (you know, fake Oreos?!)...pretty sure that is a great way to start a Saturday!
I put a children's song CD on the computer, thinking Eyla would just listen while she was doing other things.  When she saw the colors and shapes that went with the music, she proceeded to sit at the computer for the next 30 or so minutes, listening and watching.  At one point, she added a book to the mix.  I think we've found Eyla's Saturday morning cartoon alternative!!
Then, the highlight of the morning...she was gearing up to poop in her diaper (I won't describe all the signs to you!), so I asked if she wanted to sit on her potty.  She said yes, so we rushed in there, and I got her settled with a book, ready to wait a bit in case she was a little unsure of the next step.  In the time that I had stepped out to get her a book, she had gone!  I had her stand up and look while I cheered for her...at that point, I think she was a little freaked out when I kept reminding her that she had done that, that she had pooped in the potty!!  So, we ended the celebration and took care of business, before calling Dada at work to share the good news!  Don't know that this is the beginning of heading to the potty every day at this time, but it was at least a fun, easy start to the potty training process. :-)

Indianapolis Zoo, July 17, 2010

Last Saturday, we went to the Indianapolis Zoo.  We have been wanting to take Eyla, since she can name/recognize many animals, but hasn't seen the zoo-type kind in real life.  It was a blazing hot day (as our red cheeks can attest), but we went first thing in the morning when it opened, and finished by soon after noon, hoping to avoid the hottest part of the day.
Eyla definitely enjoyed it, although with the weather so hot and humid, many of the animals were pretty low-key (laying in the shade, standing around like even walking was too much effort, hiding in their cages like the bear, who we could see only from his nose to his eyes because that was all that was sticking out of the cave where he has found some shade!)  So, we didn't get a lot of great pictures of the animals, but hopefully enough here to remind us of the trip and document Eyla's first experiences with these animals!
This picture is a little blurry, but it cracks me up because is shows her response when we walked into the large room with a very large pool of sharks...she started yelling "oooohhhh", like she was so impressed and excited!                                                                                Eating a little snack while we watched ducks and flamingoes (in the very back).

Checking out monkeys from Dada's shoulders.

There was a splash park in the zoo, which was a welcome break to cool off a little bit (for Eyla mostly, although Jas and I got our feet wet!)  She was a little wary, but eventually got pretty soaked.

We're back

Sorry for the long break from pictures!  Time has just gotten away from me.  Here are a few to catch you up on the last few weeks...

If you havn't heard the news, Eyla is going to be a big sister this coming December!  The fine lines you see on the ultrasound are compliments of me running the pictures (accidently, of course!) through the shredder!

Eyla and her Dada
This picture of Eyla and Jas cuddling happened after I started the vacuum cleaner, right as Eyla came around the corner...she immediately started crying because it scared her!
Grandma & Pop came to visit...Eyla enjoyed playing marbles with Pop, and This Little Piggy with Grandma, among other weekend activities like ice cream and the playground!
